My name is Lula Torgersen. I am a glass artist currently working in Houston, Texas. Art has always been an important part of my life. Growing up on Ipanema Beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and being raised by my artist parents, I learned at an early age to explore and express my emotions through the use of a variety of media and materials. Originally I’ve worked as a graphic designer. I’ve never limi...ted myself to printed media only, but always worked with various resources. My passion for glasswork started on my first visit to Murano, Italy. While living for a few years in Scandinavia, I had the chance to travel around, visiting many glass studios and factories throughout the area and observing numerous techniques. This is where I discovered glass fusing. It was love at first try. Since then my passion for glasswork has only grown stronger. The cultural aspects from my birth place Brazil, combined with those from other countries I’ve visited through several years of expatriate life inspire me in my work every day. Colors, shape and nature form an important role in my work.
